Human infection of Toxocara canis (dog) or Toxocara cati (cat) roundworm is also known as Toxocariasis. It occurs when the patient ingests a helminth egg containing an embryo which hatches inside the body. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, itching, rashes and enlarged spleen and liver. This infection can be treated with antiparasitic (specifically anthelmintic) drugs.
