This chronic mood disorder is characterised by the patient’s feelings of persistent sadness and lack of interest. It can be caused by a hormonal imbalance (e.g. a lack of serotonin or dopamine within the brain), difficulty sleeping, stress, exposure to toxins, change of season and genetics. If severe, depression can be treated with anti depressant drugs.
