Calcifying odontogenic cyst

Calcifying odontogenic cyst, which is commonly known as the gorlin cyst, is a cyst that affects the anterior parts of the jaws. It commonly occurs to people in their 20s to 40s, but can develop at any age. Calcifying odontogenic cysts appear as a dark area on radiographs. It usually involves an impacted tooth. Several types of this cyst exist, depending on the location where it developed; Periapical, Dentigerous, Primordial, Residual, Lateral periodontal, gingival (for newborn and adults), Odontogenic keratocyst and Basal cell nevus syndrome involve some type of calcifying odontogenic cyst.
