ampicillin This beta-lactam antibiotic drug belongs to a group known as aminopenicillins, which treat bacterial infections by breaking down the bacteria cell walls while it is still growing. Eventually the cell walls become so weak that they break apart and infection can no longer happen. Patients who are allergic to penicillin must not take this drug. |
