Could It Be My Pets That Cause of My Allergies?

I am 26 years old and it’s just recently I started showing allergic systems that’s too seasonal. It’s basically limited to a bit of sneezing and a runny nose. It runs in the family though. My mother is an asthmatic and also prone to a lot of allergies. My current problem is most probably caused by the two kittens I recently adopted. My chest seems to get a bit tight whenever I’m around them. I can hardly breathe normally and I seem to be sighing a lot. Will I have to give up my kittens? I guess I’ll have to since I’ve seen my mom is getting worse as she grew older with her allergies acting up. Can anyone give me proper advice regarding this?
