Is It Normal To Get a Swelling and Severe Pain On the Arm After Getting a Pneumonia Injection?

I underwent a pneumonia injection on Wednesday and ever since then I have been experiencing severe pain, a reddish hue and swelling in my upper part of my arm. I informed my Pulmonologist about it and he assured me that some swelling and redness was usual after this shot. It is four days now and now the redness has slowly crept up to my bicep and it is still extremely red and very bloated. I would like to know how long this swelling will take to subside and if it is really quite normal. Any light that could be shed on this matter would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible.
