Is This Dosage Rather High for My Son's Asthma?

0 votes
When the doctor told me that my son had asthma, he said it was a viral induced asthma. He prescribed 40 mg of prednisone daily to be used in conjunction with an inhaler for a period of five days. Do you think that this dose is rather high? Moreover, it stops suddenly after five days. I thought this was a medication that you have to taper off till you can stop it fully. Could someone fill me in on this?
